Home: Life in North Louisiana

I'm from a small community  called Weldon. It is located in the north central part of Louisiana. Weldon is best known for it's single caution light and for ironically having a current Baptist church right next to an abandoned Methodist church along Highway 2 Alternate. Also it is known for it's camping and fishing stop on Corney Lake, which runs trough several parishes.

Ever since I was an armature photography I have been fascinated with the up-close beauty of my home area. I'm personal friends with the director of the Union Parish Library in Farmervile, LA, Stephannie Herrmann. Ms. Herrmann allowed me to have my own show in the library since she is such a fan of my work. I set out to create a show I knew she and I would both enjoy. After 3 months and with the help of LA TECH Professor Nicolas Bustamante, I had created a series of paintings, photographs, and sculptures depicting wildlife and sceneries found in North Louisiana. My locations included Corney Lake, D'arbonne Lake, and family members' homes in Weldon.

This has been one of my favorite projects. I enjoyed being in nature capturing images that most Louisianians take for granted. I would spend long hours kayaking on the river or strolling along the road finding the perfect image for the show.
